This didn’t start as a brand. It started as a breakdown.
Once, during a “productivity break,” I launched a merch store by accident. There was no plan. There was overthinking, insomnia and a cat named Syntax, who stared at me until I became an entrepreneur.
What should have been a nap turned into one blog post, one sad doodle labeled “Burnout Sticker Sheet” and one dumb mug called Cringe Noodle. Then the mug started helping people, which nobody saw coming, least of all me.
A blog turned into a joke. The joke turned into a mug. The mug turned into this.
What this place is
Damn It Carl is for creative people who are burned out and still expected to function. You’ll find three things here:
- Survival gear. Tees, mugs, hats and notebooks that say what you can’t say in the meeting.
- Free tools. Printables for days when one thing is enough.
- The blog. Honest writing from inside burnout, with jokes.
None of it will tell you to get it together. Was it therapy? Absolutely not. But it was something.
Who’s who
Carl. That’s me. I write the posts, make the tools and answer the email. I stay behind the curtain on purpose. You’re here for the cat anyway.
Syntax the Cat. Silent CEO. Emotional saboteur. Deletes your files but heals your spirit. Syntax is based on my actual cat, a tuxedo who has never once respected a deadline. The Syntax on the mugs is him, turned up to eleven. The real one naps. The cartoon one runs the company.
Nil the Robot. Website tech support. Nil debugs instead of spiraling and audits emotions for a living. If something on this site works, thank Nil. If it doesn’t, Nil already knows.
Cringe Noodle. Not a food. Not a feeling. A state of being that lives between “embarrassed” and “strangely proud.” Possibly sentient.
One honest note
I’m not a therapist, and Syntax definitely isn’t. This is humor, not healthcare. If you’re struggling, talk to someone you trust. If you’re in crisis in the US, call or text 988.
